A filling is a way to restore a tooth damaged by decay or breakage back to its normal function and shape. The dentist will first remove the decay then fill the cleaned out cavity with a filling material.  This helps prevent further decay by closing off any cracks or spaces where bacteria can enter.

  • Composite (plastic) resins are custom made to the exact color of your natural teeth. Different hybrids are used for different areas in the mouth. We use some of the best composites in the industry for wear and esthetics.

  • Amalgam (silver) fillings are a more inexpensive choice.  However, due to their dark color they are more noticeable than composite restorations and are not recommended for in visible areas such as front teeth or for large restorations. Amalgam fillings do not bond to the tooth, they simply fill the void. Many fractures that lead to Crowns stem from amalgam fillings.
